Viktor Komov is a Head Research Scientist and the Deputy Director at the Papanin Institute for Biology of Inland Waters (Russian Academy of Sciences). He is an expert in the field of bioaccumulation of heavy metals, mercury in particular. He took part as a leader and a participant in a number of governmental, local authorities and industry funded projects aimed at research of pollutant effects on aquatic biota, environmental levels of airborne pollutants, mercury accumulation in fish of rivers and lakes in Russia, Mongolia, Vietnam and mercury circulation in aquatic and riparian ecosystems.
